Guitarist/vocalist Jerry Battista and drummer/vocalist Freddy "Right On" Holzman first met in 1992 at a roller rink in Lynnwood, WA where Holzman's band opened for the Allies, a seminal local act that was popular in the early to mid 80s that Battista was playing lead guitar for at the time. As one of the first Seattle bands to have their video air on MTV ("Emma Peel"), Battista joined the band shortly thereafter.
An incredibly gifted and versatile guitarist, Battista went on to play for Seattle's popular rockabilly band The Dusty 45's, while Holzman, a self- taught southpaw who plays on a right handed kit, played in a number of rock cover bands. They formed the Davanos in 2003 and the band soon became a fixture in the Seattle music scene, bringing their unique character, charisma, and talents to the local masses.
Anchored by Holzman's dynamic stick work along with Battista, voted Best Guitarist by the Seattle Weekly in 2010, The Davanos play a kick ass combo of rock, blues, and country. Dana Brown, Don Wilhelm and Greg Youtsey alternate on bass guitar and are accomplished musicians in their own right. Voted Seattle's Best Cover Band in 2011 by the Seattle Weekly, The Davanos are definitely a must see.
